The National Center for Research and Technological Development (EKETA), one of the largest research centers in Greece, was founded in 2000. It is a non-profit legal entity under private law, supervised by the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (G.G.E.T. .) of the Greek Ministry of National Education and Religious Affairs. EKETA has significant scientific and technological achievements in many fields such as: Energy, Environment, Industry, Engineering, Information Technology & Communications, Transport & Sustainable Mobility, Health, Agro-biotechnology, Intelligent Agriculture, Security , as well as in several interdisciplinary areas. The Institute of Information Technology and Communications (IPTIL) was founded in 1998 as a non-profit organization under the auspices of G.G.E.T. in Greece, based in Thessaloniki, Greece. Since March 2000, he has been a founding member of EKETA. EKETA/ IPTHIL is one of the leading institutions in Greece in the fields of Informatics, Telematics and Telecommunications, with long experience in many European and national research projects. It is active in a large number of research areas such as Security and Surveillance, Signal and Image Processing, Computer Vision, Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning, Human-Machine Interaction, Virtual and Augmented Reality, Multimedia, Databases and Information Systems, Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving Buildings and Social Network Analysis.
